Bengaluru Metro achieves Platinum Green Rating

BENGALURU, 29 MARCH

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has been awarded the esteemed Platinum Rating by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) for five stations on the Reach-4B Green Line. The stations—Konanakunte Cross, Doddakallasandra, Vajarahalli, Talaghattapura, and Silk Institute—were recognised for their sustainable design in the MRTS Elevated Stations category.

The IGBC commended BMRCL for its implementation of energy-efficient lighting, HVAC systems, solar energy solutions, rainwater harvesting, and water recycling at these stations. Additionally, eco-friendly construction materials were utilised to minimise environmental impact. This accolade underscores Bengaluru's commitment to sustainable urban infrastructure.

M Maheshwar Rao, Managing Director of BMRCL, remarked, "This award reflects our dedication to sustainability, ensuring energy efficiency and water conservation in our stations." The corporation intends to extend these practices across all metro corridors, establishing a benchmark for sustainable urban transport in India.
